Air Jordan 5 SP “Off-White – Sail” – Virgil's take on an icon
The Air Jordan 5 “Off-White – Sail” is the result of the second collaboration between Jordan Brand and the now legendary label Off-White™ of the late Virgil Abloh . After the success of the black version from early 2020, this lighter version was released in November of the same year - a bold and experimental reinterpretation of the classic AJ5 silhouette.
The upper is made of deconstructed textile in Sail , with translucent panels and circular cutouts that are characteristic of Virgil's industrial design philosophy. The pre-yellowed midsole and discolorations on the outsole give the sneaker an 'aged' vintage look, as if it came straight from the archives.
Notable details include white “23” branding on the side, a reflective 3M tongue with red Jumpman , and of course the signature Off-White zip-tie in red. The interior is printed with the familiar Helvetica text, which references Nike’s production process while evoking the aesthetics of modern art.
